Topologies

ABOUT

Art for me is an endless journey of self-discovery and self-expression. My artistic practice is based on photography, a medium that allows me to immerse myself in unique experiences and explore diversity, landscapes, and different cultures, where my subjects, human beings exist simultaneously as characters and coauthors, within a narrative beyond the trivial perception of everyday life. The search for meaning is a continuous process for me.

The ‘Topologies’ series is motivated by the implicit urban uncanny, where I am hoping to capture a poetic thread of a feeling or experience and the unique character and people of the city that would otherwise be lost or assigned to the vagaries of memory. It is an ongoing endeavor to pinpoint an extraordinary story – the thresholds and contradictions of life, that resonate with my personal experiences in those places where I often find myself attracted to sequencing of multiple images rather than the making of single images. The sequencing of multiple still images between one moment and the next suggests the layering of information we compile from within our experiences and our memories deepening the layers of meaning in my work.

«La Habana» body of artworks is part of the ‘Topologies’ series exploring the beautiful people and the colorful beauty, architecture, diversity, and vitality of the historical city of Havana. The city is a UNESCO Heritage site, because of its unique baroque and neoclassical architecture, and its historical importance as a stop on the route to the New World.

All works are giclées produced in limited editions by the artist on archival 100% museum quality paper, and optional mounted on aluminum.   Each print, is signed and numbered in pencil on verso and guaranteed by a certificate of authenticity.
